The Clinic for Internal Diseases of domestic animals in its present form emerged from the Medical Clinic, which by resolution of the Senate of the Veterinary Faculty merged with the Clinic for Ruminants and the Department of Internal Clinical Propedeutics into s single clinical unit in 1951. Thus, the Clinic started its activities after merging of the three mentioned institutions. In the period 1919-1920, the first departments of the Veterinary College of Zagreb were founded, and in 1921, Prof. Lovro Bosnić, Ph.D. was entrusted with the task to establish a clinic for internal diseases of domestic animals. So, under his management the first clinic called Medical Clinic started its activities in 1922. It was actually a clinic for internal diseases of hoofed animals and carnivores. In the following year in line with the proposition of Prof. Bosnić, the Senate decided to establish also a clinic for internal diseases of ruminants, pigs and poultry. This task was given to Prof. Milo Rajčević, who was the first head of this clinic. The Department and Clinic for Internal Diseases of Ruminants, Pigs and Polutry, later called "Clinic for Ruminants" started its activities in the school year 1923/24. It was closely connected with the Department and Clinic for Obstetrics. The Clinic is engaged in professional, teaching and scientific work. Scientific work is performed mostly in the field of clinical diagnostics of some internal diseases of domestic animals. In 6th, 7th and 8th semester of undergraduate studies the subject called "Internal Diseases" is studied in form of lectures, seminars and practical work. |
