Humanijada is a traditional international, sporting and educational event for students at bio-medical faculties, where, alongside competitions in a variety of sports, students are educated and encouraged to socialize. It has been held since 1993 and brings together all faculties in bio-medical fields from Croatia and neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina. Humanijada as such is a unique event, which through sport and fun, and the exchange of experiences and the development of team work, forms a framework for personal and professional relationships building the pillars of a future healthy way of life. This event celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2017. Students of the Veterinary Faculty have participated in Humanijada since the very beginning and want this tradition to continue. Young sportsmen and women from the Veterinary Faculty have been very successful in sports played at Humanijada, and each year they win a large number of medals, whereby they promote the Veterinary Faculty in academic circles and encourage future young generations who also attend Humanijada to continue to be involved in sports and to promote veterinary medicine through sport. Competitions are held in eight sports (beach volleyball, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, five-a-side football (futsal), handball, basketball and swimming), for men and woman. Entertainment is also organized alongside the sport. At this year’s Humanijada there were more than 700 competitors from 15 faculties. Humanijada 2017 was held from 3rd to 7th May at Tuhelj Thermal Spa in Tuheljske Toplice. The student association SportVEF was one of the participants again this year, with 37 competitors in team and individual sports. This year was the most successful for veterinarian sport, because we won excellent third place overall, and our student Sara Klobučar was declared the best sportswoman of Humanijada 2017.
