On Monday, 10 November 2025, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb, solemnly celebrated its 106th anniversary. In addition to this important jubilee, the Faculty also marked a decade of the integrated undergraduate and graduate study of Veterinary Medicine in English – a programme that has, over the past ten years, further strengthened the Faculty’s international visibility.
This year’s ceremony was given special significance by the presence of high-ranking diplomatic representatives who took part in the formal session and protocol activities. The Faculty had the honour of welcoming:
- H.E. Wendy Dorman-Smith, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ireland
- H.E. Gangumzi Mattias Tsengiwe, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa, accompanied by First Secretary Tshepiso Promise Matlale
- H.E. Prof. Dr. Pascal Hector, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany
- Mr Philippe François Paul Bonche, Consul of the French Republic
- Mr Milán Viktor Radácsi, First Secretary for Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Hungary
The Dean’s Board hosted the distinguished guests at an informal gathering over coffee and sweet refreshments. During the visit, the embassy representatives met students from their respective countries: Eric Eichhorn, Pauline Mallinckrodt, Thomas Laurent, Karoly Agoston, Tara Rutherford and Nathan Lesage. This was followed by a tour of the Faculty, accompanied by Dr. Ivan Butković, Prof. Dr. Juraj Grizelj, Assist. Prof. Dr. Lidija Medven Zagradišnik, Dr. Iva Zečević, and students, as well as attendance at the formal session.
Gratitude is extended to the esteemed embassy representatives, students, teachers, and staff whose presence enhanced the significance of this important day. Proud of its rich tradition and the work of its academic community, the Faculty continues to build excellence in education, research, and international cooperation.
