The amount of remuneration and reimbursement of costs for the work of permanent court experts is determined by the Ordinance on permanent court experts (OG 38/2014).

Authorized laboratory in the field of implementation of veterinary activities for genotyping of animals not prescribed by a special regulation pursuant to Articles 90 and 91 of the Veterinary Act, Article 68, paragraph 1 of the General Administrative Procedure Act (Official Gazette, 47/09) and in accordance with the Ordinance on the authorization of official and reference laboratories in the field of veterinary activities (Official Gazette, 102/10).

The Department includes a laboratory that conducts analyzes to determine the DNA profile of dogs, cattle, ungulates, sheep and goats using microsatellite markers according to the recommendation of the International Society for Animal Genetics. This method determines a unique DNA profile. Application: giving a guarantee of origin (indisputable confirmation of the connection between parents and offspring) or resolving cases in which it is necessary to compare DNA profiles between the disputed (biological material of unknown origin, eg saliva, blood, tissue from the crime scene) and undisputed (biological material from an individual is a previously confirmed identity) trace.

Since 2018, methods of identifying the origin of animal species based on mtDNA have been introduced.
