The Department of Pathophysiology has a hematology and biochemical laboratory as part of teaching, scientific and professional work. Laboratories provide services of hematological and biochemical tests of reptiles, birds and other exotic animals, which include determination and enumeration of blood cells (erythrocytes, leukocytes and thrombocytes), differential blood count, hematocrit and hemoglobin concentration. These services are provided for the needs of the Clinic for Exotic Animals of the Department for Poultry Diseases with a clinic, the Zagreb Zoo, Wildlife Recovery Centers (Sea Turtle Recovery Center, Pula and Griffon Vulture Recovery Center, Beli, Cres Island) and other interested parties.  Given the specificity of the blood picture of birds and reptiles, the interpretation of the obtained results is performed by employees of the Department of Pathophysiology specializing in the field of hematology of exotic and wild animals.
