Students awarded on the occasion of the Faculty’s 103rd anniversary

The ceremonial session of the Faculty Council of the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, which commemorated the 103rd anniversary of the Faculty, was held on Thursday, 10 November 2022. In his introductory speech, the Faculty’s Dean Prof Marko Samardžija, PhD addressed the attendees. He reflected on the current position of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, pointing out its most important aspects, i.e. student-centred teaching, international integration and recognisability, and the social role played by its Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

The celebration of Faculty Day is an occasion to award and recognise its employees and students. The Vice-Dean for Integrated Study and Students Prof Ksenija Vlahović, PhD announced student awards for the study of veterinary medicine in Croatian. The best student for all six years of study and the recipient of the Dean’s Award is the sixth-year student Viktor Mašović.

Students with the best grade average for each year of study in Croatian were also awarded. The best first-year student in the academic year 2021/2022 was Marijana Pandža, Višnja Bašić had the best grade average in the second year of study, Buga Slavica in the third year, Mihovil Matković in the fourth year, Nikola Serdar in the fifth year, and Sanja Mofardin in the sixth year of study.

The Vice-Dean for Veterinary Studies in English and Life-Long Learning Asst Prof Marko Pećin, PhD announced the awarded students of veterinary studies in English. The Dean’s Award was given to the third-year student Anna Titova and the sixth-year student Charlotte Francesca Stiles as the best students of veterinary studies in English.

Awards were also given for the best grade average for each year of veterinary studies in English. In the last academic year, the best success was achieved by Tara Adelaide Rutherford in the first year of study, by Ashkan Sadri in the second year of study, and the following French students were the best in their respective years of study: Pauline Claire Jourdain in the third year, Abigail Rose Lily Plançon in the fourth year, Elise Farah in the fifth year and Juliette Alexandra Magoga in the sixth year.
