Mendel Genetics Conference

25.02.2022., General News, Students' office announcements

Dear colleagues,

warm greetings from the Czech Republic and Masaryk University! Let me remind you the Mendel Genetics Conference, which takes place on 20–23 July 2022 in Brno, Czech Republic, commemorating the bicentennial of the birth of Gregor Johann Mendel, the father of modern genetics, whose life and research are inextricably linked with Brno.

Programme and speakers

This UNESCO-acknowledged multidisciplinary genetic event will present discussions on discoveries sparked by Mendel’s own work, including human genetics (inherited diseases, cancer genetics and gene therapy), plant and animal genetics, emerging technologies in genetic research, ethical questions, and history of genetics. For more, see the preliminary programme.

We are happy to be joined by esteemed experts on the subject, Nobel Prize laureates among them (prof. Ada E. Yonath from Weizmann Institute of Science, prof. Thomas Cech from the University of Colorado and sir Paul Nurse from The Francis Crick Institute), to present at the conference. See our list of speakers to learn more.

Registration for the event

The registration is open until 30 June 2022. Please use our registration form. The abstract submission deadline is 31 March 2022. More information here.

We would love to see you and be grateful should you forward this invitation to your colleagues who may be interested in the event. Attached to this message you will find a poster and a press release on the legacy of G. J. Mendel.

Details on the Mendel Genetics Conference can be found on mendel22.cz/conference.

Thank you kindly for your cooperation.

On behalf of the Organising and Scientific Committee
